Inspired by youth

Well, I guess I must be getting a little older because I was deemed worthy enough to be a judge for a harp scholarship audition. It was really interesting to hear the students play for us, and to give some constructive criticism along with encouragement. I heard some really great pieces being performed that I would like to try, and it made me more aware of how I could improve my own playing. I left feeling inspired by the hard work these students put into the auditions - all the hours of lessons, memorization, and practice. It all came down to three judges to decide their fate. I wish we all could have given them recognition and it was difficult to to choose only a few winners. I hope that someday I can work up some new pieces to play for gigs, I'm afraid I play a lot of the same 25 pieces over and over again. Thank you to the students for setting such a fine example today! I hope they all continue to play the harp. They were so brave to play before a panel of judges and to be evaluated. Truly I was inspired by their youth and enthusiasm.
